Building Hours

Building Closed

When a building is closed, it is restricted entry for anyone—including occupants with keys. Examples of why a building may be closed: a health and safety hazard exists, damage to the building, or planned construction.

Building Locked

When a building is locked, the exterior doors of the building are locked for those without key access. Users with key access to a locked building are still able to access the building and conduct appropriate operations within that building.

Holiday Schedule

All buildings will be locked on holidays and campus closure days

Building Hours FAQ

What considerations are used to develop building hours?

Building hours are established based on scheduled activities through 25 live, Conference & Event Services, and the academic schedule. There are considerations to allow hours that support non-scheduled student use.

What will building hours look like on the weekends?

All buildings will be locked on the weekends, with the exception of the buildings listed above. Building access for weekend use will be accommodated through the department key request process or Conference & Event Services for outside campus users.

What about campus closure and holidays?

All buildings will be locked on holidays and campus closure days as has been typical for our campus. See the Green & Gold Calendar for closures.

What do Faculty and Staff need to do?

Faculty and Staff should work with their department to submit a key request if they do not already have one. Once a key is issued, they will have access to buildings anytime during or outside building open hours. These keys will also have specific room access requested through the department key request process

How do students request keys for after hours access?

Students who have academic courses or research that occurs outside building open hours may work with the corresponding academic department to submit a key request. Faculty coordinating student work may work with their department administrator to file a key request as is typical. The department administrator can work directly with Facilities Management to make batch requests.

What about accessibility?

For those who use campus buildings as the accessible route of travel across the university may request a building entry key for after hours through the Campus Disability Resource Center (CDRC)

Facilities Management has made extensive progress with installing wireless locking capabilities in most of our main academic buildings. This will lead to improved satisfaction of key requests and access modifications.
