The Gutswurrak (pronounced "guts-wuh-dock") Student Activities Center is the heart of campus life. A place where you can find helpful services, connect with friends, engage in a variety of activities, and participate in exciting events. We welcome all members of the campus community in an inclusive environment and through our many spaces and services, provide a central gathering place for out of classroom experiences. Gutswurrak is the Wiyot word for “gathering place."
We acknowledge that the land on which Cal Poly Humboldt is located is unceded territory of the Wiyot people who continue to live and thrive today. It is surrounded by the traditional, ancestral, and present homelands of several indigenous nations including the Hupa, Karuk, Mattole, Tolowa, Wailaki, and Yurok that make up Humboldt County.

Services
Information Counter - A central point to get answers to questions about Gutswurrak Student Activities Center services and other campus information, as well as check out video game controllers, charging cords, or therapy lamps.
Lockers - Lockers are available to rent at the Gutswurrak Student Activities Center Counter located in the South Lounge for $10 per semester. (Lockers are located in the GSAC Commuter Kitchen.)
Printing - A self-printing station is available in the South Lounge.
Poster Distribution - Get your posters approved for campus posting at the Information Counter. The poster policy is available at the Info Counter and online.
University Ticket Office - Located online at tickets.humboldt.edu, we sell tickets for many events on campus including Athletics games, Cal Poly Humboldt Presents, and the Department of Dance, Music and Theatre.
GSAC Display Case - Showcase your program, event, club, or department at our display case located next to the Information Counter. Email sac@humboldt.edu to ask about reserving a spot!
Amenities
Kate Buchanan Room is home to our Commuter Student Lounge & Kitchen, Movie Lounge and Student Hangout Lounge - A great place for all students to relax between classes, with a kitchen, lockers, comfortable couches and chairs, beanbags, TVs, and more. Drop in and catch whatever is playing anytime during our open hours, or join us for one of our special screening nights.
Table Games - We offer (4) billiards tables in the South Lounge, ping pong table in the Karshner Lounge, and more.
Board Games - Over 25 games and puzzles at your disposal in Lumberjack Lounge! All the classics from Monopoly and chess to Sorry. Make use of the game table in Karshner Lounge for group play of Dungeon & Dragons or other favorites.
Gaming Lounge - A casual space to join friends for video games on the XBOX, Nintendo Switch, or PS5. Controllers available for free at Information Desk to check out.
Arcade - Skee-Ball, Pump-It-Up Dance Arcade, World Cup Soccer Pinball and more. All free for our students.
Lumberjack Lounge - A casual space featuring student photography to relax with friends, read a book, or study. Free coffee available every morning.
Redwood Retreat - COMING Spring 2026 - A new sanctuary for students to unwind, recharge, and rejuvenate. The Redwood Retreat will feature a nap pod and massage chairs, offering an innovative way to ease stress and support holistic student wellness — physical, mental, and emotional.
