Residence Hall Association

The Residence Hall Association (RHA) is the governing body for students living in the Residence Halls, overseeing the other councils and committees listed below. RHA is dedicated to serving the residence hall community with leadership and education. As the representatives of Humboldt students living on campus, they provide programs of general interest for the residents of all living communities, as well as input and feedback to Housing & Residence life on policies and housing-wide initiatives. RHA's job is to represent the students' voices with respect to policies, events, budgets, and anything else pertinent to on-campus residents.

Councils and Committees Supported by the Residence Hall Association

Area Councils

Each Living Area (i.e. The Canyon, The Hill, Cypress, Creekview, Campus Apartments, and College Creek) has its very own area council. These groups plan awesome events for each individual area. Not only are area councils fun, they also provide an excellent place for residents to get involved. New positions open every year! Contact your Resident Advisor or RLC for more information. Area councils always meet on Tuesdays at 7pm.

National Residence Hall Honorary

The Michael Wilcoxen Chapter of the National Residence Hall Honorary is an organization that prides itself on offering leadership, philanthropic, and recognition programs for the student leaders of the Humboldt Residence Halls. NRHH is comprised of the top 1% of student leaders in the Residence Halls and has two core values of recognition and service. It is the only nationwide organization that exclusively recognizes leaders in the residence halls; it is also considered the recognition branch of the National Association of College and University Residence Halls (NACURH), Inc. NRHH meets on Mondays at 5:00pm in the JGC Moonstone Beach Room.

Residence Programming Board

The Residence Programming Board (RPB) puts on programs for residents in all living areas and assists other councils in putting on their programs. RPB is responsible for the movies in the J, and all big programs (like dances, Halloween, and the Super Bowl!).

Satellite Committees

For specific interests such as social justice, mental health, or video games you may want to check out a satellite committee. Satellite committees are interest based groups that meet weekly to plan programs, propose housing policy changes, develop education campaigns and form social networks. These committees are a great way to find friends with similar passions and impact change in the residence halls, on campus and in the local community. Residents interested in starting their own committee should meet with an RHA officer.

CORE-G

Committee On Resident Entertainment & Gaming, is a group of residents committed to sharing their love of technology and gaming. CORE-G is known for putting on the Night of the Living Games, which is 48-hours of non-stop gaming, along with D&D sessions and magic the gather nights. They meet on Wednesdays at 8pm in the JGC Mad River Room.

Ecoreps

Ecoreps is a student-led on-campus effort championed by Green Campus and RHA to create and encourage sustainable and environmentally responsible behavior within students living in Res Halls. This program seeks to impart professional training for green jobs while also implementing strategies to minimize negative sustainability consequences and impacts from residents. This concept therefore provides training and application for new skills within the Residence Hall landscape.

EcoReps run projects and programs have historically focused on: overall waste reduction and waste sorting education, implementation of the green room certification program, events and activities that are fun and build cohesion between residents, greater participation in bike share and bus for sustainable transportation, achieving energy and water reductions, networking with environmental justice organizations on campus, food waste reduction, and more!
