How To Apply To The Board of Directors?
1. Explore Role Descriptions Tab
With 18 positions on the board, there is a position for every major. If you are not sure which role to apply for-> Look through our Role Descriptions tab and find one that interests you. Consider a board position that might help you build your professional network. You can also see a list of current vacancies here.
2. Submit the Board of Directors Application

4. Interview
The A.S. President will set up an interview with you. Generally, the interviews are short, and they want to know why you want to join.
After interviews, the A.S. President will decide who to recommend to the A.S. Board of Directors.
A.S. President will notify you of their decision via email.
5. A.S. Board of Director's Approval
You will need to be present at the A.S. Board meeting.
If the A.S. Board votes to approve your appointment to the Board of Directors, you're on the Board.
6. Board Member Orientation
Once appointed, professional staff will set up an orientation to help you understand your roles and duties as a board member.
Please Note: It can take up to approximately four weeks to be appointed by the Board of Directors.
Associated Students, We Are Your Student Government!
Students must meet the following academic requirements to serve on the A.S. Board of Directors.
For Undergraduates:
- Be a current Humboldt student enrolled in a minimum of 6 units for the current semester.
- Have a cumulative and current semester 2.0 GPA
- Successfully completed 12 semester units at Humboldt within the twelve months preceding this semester.
- No more than 132 cumulative units or 125 percent of the units required for a specific baccalaureate degree.
For Post-Baccalaureate Students:
- Maintain 3 units per semester
- Cumulative and semester 2.0 GPA
- No more than 50 semester units or 167 percent of the units required for the graduate or credential objective, whichever is greater.
