Tuesday, 5:00-5:50pm (YES, Lib Room 1)

Spring 2025: Engagement

Weekly visits to Humboldt County Juvenile Hall (in Eureka) to engage and connect with youth during their recreation hour.

Volunteer group size limited to 8 students and 2 directors (10 total)

Site Visit Schedule (plus travel time):

  • Thursday 6:15-7:15pm
  • Sunday 10:15-11:15am

Program Mission

Volunteers of JHRP spend time with the incarcerated youth at the Humboldt County Juvenile Hall in Eureka, and provide outside community contact during regularly scheduled recreation time. JHRP volunteers provide support and positive guidance to youth in an effort to deepen, strengthen, and restore a connection to the outside community.

Service, Goals & Projects

As a group, JHRP will offer athletic activities, engaging recreational activities, and dynamic, meaningful conversations with youth to encourage peer connection that promotes positivity, inspiration, a sense of grounding and growth. Activities may include: basketball, card games, or board games. JHRP's work carries out highly set standards of excellence and integrity. Volunteers lead with empathy, compassion, playfulness and positivity,  marketing the value of community collaboration.
