V.O.P- One Time Volunteering

Spring 2025

Drop-In Knitting

Fridays from 1:00-1:50pm (beginning 2/7/25 - 5/2/25)

Weekly 1-hour volunteering on campus. Help knit beanies to be donated to oncology patients, seniors, newborns, and individuals experiencing homelessness.

No experience necessary. It’s easy to learn using our circular knitting looms and student leaders will provide tutorials to any first-time volunteers.

  • To reserve your spot: Simply come to the YES office (Library, Suite1) by 12:55pm
  • Limited to 10 students per session

Gardening at Potawot Community Food Garden

Wednesdays from 1:30-3:00pm (start date TBD)

Join the Volunteer Opportunities Program (VOP) at Y.E.S. for an 7-week series in Arcata. Volunteers will assist with outdoor projects which may include weeding, tending greenhouse plants, orchard care, harvesting, and more!

Location: Volunteers are responsible for securing their own transportation to the community site (3500 Ribeiro Lane, Arcata).

Participation Details:

  • Gloves provided
  • Outside projects only (rain or shine) - wear layered clothing
  • Closed-toe shoes required
