Program Mission
The Alternative Spring Break (ASB) program at Y.E.S. offers Cal Poly Humboldt students opportunities for experiential learning with local non-profit organizations, culminating in a spring break trip exploring social and environmental justice needs. The ASB team plans, develops and engages in a week-long volunteer trip during spring break to a nearby city.
Volunteering, Goals & Projects
Students volunteer throughout the year in the local community, learning about and engaging in projects related to the trip issue area (which may change each year). Past trips have focused on issues such as housing insecurity and poverty, food justice, or environmental sustainability. The ASB provides students an immersive, hands-on experience to learn about and engage in a variety of social issues and help meet community expressed needs.
