JackPass & Bus

During the Fall and Spring semesters, all Humboldt students will have unlimited free ride access on the Redwood Transit System (RTS) buses, which serve the Route 101 corridor from Trinidad to Scotia, including Valley East and Valley West in Arcata, the Eureka Transit System (ETS) buses which serve the city of Eureka and Arcata & Mad River Transit System (A&MRTS) which serves the Arcata area, and Willow Creek/Arcata Route which is operated by Humboldt Transit Authority and travels between the communities of Arcata and Willow Creek.

Currently, registered students simply slide their Humboldt student identification card through the bus fare box and receive a free ride.

Staff, faculty, and Extended Education participants are also granted the same level of access for $60 a semester. 

During the summer session, there is a small fee of $45 for staff, faculty, and students not enrolled in the summer session.

If you are a student enrolled in at least one summer class, the cost for the summer session is only $30.

These fees can be paid at the Student Financial Services window on the second floor of the Student Business Services building.

Accessible Public Transit to Campus

Dial-A-Ride is the ADA Paratransit service provider for the Humboldt area and is an origin-to-destination shared-ride transportation for individuals who are unable to use public transportation, either all of the time or some of the time, because of a disabling condition. Through the JackPass, Dial-A-Ride fares are free for students. Employees who wish to use Dial-A-Ride may do so as well for free when a JackPass is purchased for the semester. 

Individuals interested in utilizing Dial-A-Ride must be registered and certified eligible by Humboldt Transit Authority before using the services.  A code will be necessary in order to schedule rides for free.  Following is the process to receive the code needed to utilize Dial-A-Ride services at Cal Poly Humboldt:

1. Complete the Dial-A-Ride Application
2. Once certified eligible to use Dial-A-Ride, send an email to transportation@humboldt.edu indicating that you would like to use the Dial-A-Ride service.  Include the following in the email:  (1) your name; (2) Humboldt ID#; and (3) confirmation that you have been certified eligible to use Dial-A-Ride.
3. Once verified as a student or as an employee who has a current JackPass, a code will be emailed to you.  Instructions detailing how to use the code will be explained in the email from Transportation & Parking Services.
