Literacy Conference 2025

This year's conference will take place at Cal Poly Humboldt on Saturday, March 15th, from 9am-3pm.

Overview

This year's conference theme is  Refresh and Inspire: Creating Meaningful Writing Opportunities for ALL Students.

  • Fire it with Feelings: Using Social/Emotional Topics in Language Arts for Student Inspiration
  • Expanding Minds: Teaching Students to Craft Richer, More Complex Sentences
  • Using Mentor Texts to Promote Thoughtful Quick Writes & Discussion
  • Write From the Start: Getting Young Writers on Their Way and Keeping Them Going
  • Our Towns, Our Stories: Teaching Media Literacy Through Journalistic Storytelling 
  • Love Letters to the Environment: Connecting Students to Literature and Writing for a Cause
  • Time, Choice and Response: Writing Workshop at Its Very Best

There is no cost to attend this year's conference (it's free!). Registration closes Friday, March 7th.

Earning Units

By attending all sessions at the conference and completing a brief reflection/feedback form, you can purchase one unit of graduate credit through Cal Poly Humboldt Extended Education. Transcripts reflecting attendance will be available after May 20th.
