Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) for Participation in RWP Events

Registering for Events

Please see this page for our current RWP professional development opportunities.  On the page there will be a link to a Google Form you'll use to sign up.

Typically, we don't require fees to attend RWP events, though there are some exceptions (fees for conferences, for example, are necessary sometimes).  We do however offer stipends for you for participating in these events.  Also, if you'd like to earn units through Extended Education, there is usually tuition fee.  Please see the "Stipends and Units" section of this page for more information on that.

Stipends and Units

Yes! In many cases Redwood Writing Project will offer a small stipend for participating in RWP events and the opportunity to purchase units through Humboldt Extended Education.

Please see our current list of events and professional development opportunities for details on if stipends and/or units are an option, and the requirements for earning those units and/or stipends.

Units:

Because units are processed through Cal Poly Humboldt Extended Education, they are submitted twice a year.  If your event concluded in June-December, it will be recorded as units earned in the fall semester of that year.  If your event concluded in January-May, it will be recorded as units earned in the spring semester of that year.  Units are typically visible on transcripts a few weeks after the conclusion of the Cal Poly Humboldt semester.

Unfortunately, stipends to take a long time to process! After completing the required attendance and/or work for the event, we will send you Form 204 (see the Form 204 question below for more information about this) which we need to have on file to process your stipend.

Next, RWP submits these stipend requests to Cal Poly Humboldt Accounting, who issues you a payment in the manner you specified on Form 204.  This can take up to eight weeks after submitting Form 204.

If it's been eight weeks and you haven't received payment, please reach out to us at rwp@humbolt.edu and we will look into it for you promptly!

Stipends:

After completing the required work and attendance, you will be sent an email to fill out Form 204.

Here are some instructions for completing Form 204:

It is important that you complete Form 204 ASAP as it's required for processing your stipend for attending RWP programs.  Stipends cannot be completed without a current form 204 on file.  Here is the link to the Form 204.

Accessing Professional Development at Cal Poly Humboldt or on Zoom

The majority of our professional development events take place on Zoom to ensure max flexibility.  However, certain  events are still in person.  Please check our events page for further information about modalities of specific RWP events.

In the event of a Zoom event, after an event is closed for registration, facilitators will create a Zoom link for the event and email the link to participants before the first session.

If you don't have that email with the link three business days before the event starts, please contact RWP@humboldt.edu and we will assist.

Please find helpful directions, maps, etc., here.

If you are coming to campus on a weekend, there is no charge for parking in lots.  Here's some more information about parking on campus.
