PEACH: Restoring Humboldt Bay

The Humboldt Bay Harbor District is launching the Program to Eliminate Abandoned Creosote Piles (PEACH) to remove toxic, abandoned dock pilings and restore marine habitat.

We’re seeking Cal Poly Humboldt interns to help with research, mapping, and field verification. Projects can be tailored to student skills and interests, with supervision and hands-on experience provided.

What is CCAT

The Campus Center for Appropriate Technology (CCAT) is a student-managed, student-funded demonstration home for sustainable living on the Cal Poly Humboldt campus in Arcata, California. Operated by three student co-directors and their staff for one-year terms, CCAT functions as part of a registered non-profit. Guided by the ethic of “education by example,” CCAT offers tours, workshops, and hands-on opportunities for students and the community.

Data Science Intern

USAISR Engineering / Computer Science Graduate Student Internship

As an ORISE participant, you will join a community of scientists, engineers, and researchers in an effort to develop medical
automation research solutions. You will support various engineering and computer science aspects of the research projects
focused on processing time-series data sets for developing advanced monitoring solutions, creating in silico computer models for mimicking human physiology in trauma, and automating ultrasound image interpretation through deep  
learning model development using Python and MATLAB.

The Office of Data Development and Standards (ODDS) designs, develops, and leads programs that capture essential information on U.S. transportation systems to inform decision-making. Working collaboratively across USDOT and with external partners, ODDS explores innovative approaches to data collection, analysis, visualization, and survey design to improve and launch new data development initiatives.

Applied Perception Intern

Locations: San Francisco, CA, USA
Status: Full time

Program runs for 12 weeks (May 18-Aug 7 or June 15-Sept. 4)

As an Applied Vision Intern at the Autodesk Robotics Lab, you'll build cutting-edge applications integrating deep learning-based perception and 3D Computer Vision. We are a team of researchers, engineers, and industry domain experts working on projects that range from reinforcement learning, deep learning, computer vision, motion planning, simulation, human-robot cooperation and more for robotic applications in manufacturing and construction.

Responsibilities:

• Experiment with and integrate state-of-the-art perception models into robotic workflows for manufacturing applications.
• Leverage multimodal data (RGB, depth, point clouds, CAD models) to improve perception robustness.
• Collaborate with cross-functional team members to design and deploy creative demonstrations on real robots.
• Communicate results and demonstrations effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Qualifications:

• Pursuing a master's or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical, Mechanical, or related fields.
• Strong background in 3D Computer Vision and Deep Learning
• Experience integrating deep learning-based perception and manipulation capabilities on robots.
• Excellent software development skills, fluency in Python and knowledge of source code management like Git is required.
• Experience with large code bases.
• Ability to debug complex software systems.
• Knowledge of manufacturing applications is a plus.

What We’re Looking For:

• Current full-time MS or Ph.D. student in Robotics, Computer Science, or a related discipline at an accredited institution, with at least one academic term remaining after the internship.
• Hands-on experience with robotics software development and familiarity with established platforms.
  Background in machine learning and its applications in robotics.
• Strong foundation in software engineering, software design principles and architecture, and systems engineering.
• Proficiency in both simulation-based development and real-world hardware implementation.
• Excellent programming skills, with fluency in Python and C++
