Description: Since 1968 the National Institute on Drug Abuse has maintained a monopoly on the production and distribution of cannabis for research. This monopoly has prevented U.S. based clinical research from accessing quality flower and diverse phenotypes for human testing. Dr Sisley will discuss the challenges of both obtaining federal approval for such research and then carrying out a FDA-approved randomized controlled trial examining the safety and efficacy of cannabis for treating Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) in military veterans.
