Welcome back, students! Start the semester off right with a refreshing 5-mile hike through the beautiful Headwaters Reserve. This old-growth redwood ecosystem is full of rich history and stunning views. Along the way, you’ll learn about the area’s natural and cultural significance, including its importance as home to threatened species like Coho Salmon, the Northern Spotted Owl, and the Marbled Murrelet.
The trail is mostly flat, making this hike accessible for most participants, and it is a great introduction to one of Humboldt’s most iconic natural spaces. Come explore and make plans to bring your family, pets, and bikes back to enjoy this scenic spot in the future!
Transportation is included as part of this trip!
Trail: The first mile of trail at this location is ADA accessible, gravel path. After that, it transitions to dirt and/or woody terrain that is still flat and wide. The trail length varies on what each group decides, but is not longer than five miles total.
Transportation: Transportation is provided for this activity. All participants will be meeting at Library Circle on campus and traveling in Outdoor Adventures' vans to the trip location.
Persons who wish to request accessibility-related accommodations should contact Outdoor Adventures at (707) 826-3357, or email at OutdoorAdventures@humboldt.edu as soon as possible. Some accommodations may take up to several weeks to arrange.
