In this introductory course, we will cover everything about dinghy sailing, including boat anatomy, sail & wind theory, essential knots, and even how to rig one of our sailboats! This course is a great way to boost your confidence about the sport before casting off into the wind and tides. This course includes both classroom time and hands-on instruction.
Included in Program Fee: On-land instruction from an official US Sailing Instructor, instructional information packet, and all required sailing equipment.
<p><strong>Equipment: </strong>For sailing programs all participants are required to wear a helmet, which is provided. No other equipment is needed. </p><p><strong>Transportation: </strong>Transportation is not provided for this activity. All participants will meet at the Humboldt Bay Aquatic Center, located at 921 Waterfront Drive, Eureka CA </p><p><strong>Facility:</strong> The Humboldt Bay Aquatic Center is equipped with an ADA compliant front door and an elevator. The facility has restrooms and locker rooms with showers. Please note if you would like to use a locker, the lockers are not equipped with locks but you are welcome to bring your own. There is a boat ramp that leads to our floating dock which changes grade based on the tide.
