Join us for a unique once-in-a-semester experience! In this paddle outing, we will be kayaking around the Mad River Slough, a salt-water slough located in northern Humboldt Bay. We'll see wildlife, learn basic paddle strokes, and bond together for a wonderful flat-water paddle. Our guides are equipped to give you loads of historical, cultural, and ecological interpretation knowledge of some of the most unique aspects of Humboldt County. Get ready to see a brand new world, right in our backyard! Visitors often encounter migratory shorebirds, majestic egrets, hungry herons, predatory raptors, mysterious harbor seals, and so much more!
No experience? No worries! Trained guides will provide students and guests with all the necessary equipment and basic skills needed.
Program Fee Includes: high quality on-land and on-water flat water kayak instruction, hard gear (kayak and paddle), soft gear (PFD, wetsuit, booties, splash jacket), and lots of interpretive information.
