EOP/SSS 2nd Year Peer Advising
In your second year, we'll share tips about how to keep everything in balance.... school, work, friends, & stress. We'll also help you draft a plan for classes to take in your next few semesters. We'll also help you with job search strategies and the development of your professional resume.
EOP/SSS 3rd Year Peer Advising
In your third year, we'll help you plan your path to graduation and explore life and career options for after Humboldt. Career employment, graduate school or gap year of working...which ever you choose, we'll help you develop your action plan for getting there. Action plans include a review of courses for graduation, available volunteer and work opportunities to strengthen your job-readiness, and academic enrichment activities to strengthen your applied knowledge in career/professional settings.
Getting Primed for Life After Graduation
Our Student Engagement Coordinator will help you find the specific work, volunteer, and internship opportunities that will help you bolster your readiness to enter your career and professional work life. We’ll help you capture the experiences you’ll need to reach your PEAK (Professional and Educational Advancement & Knowledge).
Learning Specialist
Hello everyone! As the Learning Specialist, I provide you with assistance in developing fundamental academic skills, improving your study skills & academic habits, and your understanding of multiple learning strategies. I also provide you with 1-on-1 support in regards to academic preparation for course-related materials (English, reading, Math, etc.).
Examples of student appointments are:
- Creating a time management plan
- Creating a study schedule
- Self-testing strategies
- Getting organized through task management and prioritization
- Exploring where you are in the learning process
- Setting goals for yourself and more!
We are here to guide and empower you throughout the learning process regardless of your starting place!
Our Partners At The Learning Center
The Learning Center offers a wide range of academic support for students, ranging from weekly sessions (Supplemental Instruction for STEM classes), to drop-in sessions (STEM and business courses), to appointment based sessions (Writing Studio and Academic Peer Coaching).
EOP/SSS staff can help you learn more about these services and assist you in finding the best combination of tutorial and academic support that will meet your needs, based on your learning preferences.
