EOP/SSS 2nd Year Peer Advising

In your second year, we'll share tips about how to keep everything in balance.... school, work, friends, & stress. We'll also help you draft a plan for classes to take in your next few semesters. We'll also help you with job search strategies and the development of your professional resume.

3rd Year Peer Advising

In your third year, we'll help you plan your path to graduation and explore life and career options for after Humboldt.  Career employment, graduate school or gap year of working...which ever you choose, we'll help you develop your action plan for getting there. Action plans include a review of courses for graduation, available volunteer and work opportunities to strengthen your job-readiness, and academic enrichment activities to strengthen your applied knowledge in career/professional settings. 
 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Learning Specialist

The Learning Specialist provides support in developing fundamental academic skills, strengthening study habits, and building effective learning strategies. Services include individualized, one-on-one assistance to help students prepare for course-related materials such as English, reading, and math.

Examples of student appointments include:

  • Creating time management plans
  • Developing structured study schedules
  • Learning and applying self-testing strategies
  • Improving organization through task management and prioritization
  • Identifying current stages in the learning process
  • Setting and refining academic goals

The Learning Specialist supports and empowers students throughout their academic journey, regardless of their starting point.

 

Our Partners At The Learning Center

The Learning Center offers a wide range of academic support for students, ranging from weekly sessions (Supplemental Instruction for STEM classes), to drop-in sessions (STEM and business courses), to appointment based sessions (Writing Studio and Academic Peer Coaching).

EOP/SSS staff can help you learn more about these services and assist you in finding the best combination of tutorial and academic support that will meet your needs, based on your learning preferences.
