Undergraduate Programs
Business Administration, B.S.
Provides a broad foundation in business principles. It fosters an inclusive learning environment focused on ethics, active learning, entrepreneurial thinking, and strategic sustainability. Hands-on learning opportunities include competitive paid internships and networking events which link academic concepts with real-world business applications.
The School of Business offers a bachelor's degree in Business Administration, a minor in Business Administration as well as a one-year MBA program. Our core curriculum provides a solid foundation and our concentrations of Accounting, Finance, Economics, Marketing and New Venture Management enable you to focus and specialize in the area of business that interests you most. We are accredited by the International Accreditation Council for Business Education (IACBE).
Child Development, B.A.
A dynamic community of learners committed to promoting positive experiences for children and families through 21st-century educational approaches. Coursework and practicum experiences help students interpret and integrate the ever-growing body of knowledge about children and their environments. Special attention is given to examining the implications of theories, research, and policies.
The Child Development Department offers two majors: 1) Child Development and Family Relationships (CDFR) which includes pathways in teaching early childhood, elementary school and special education as well as Child and Family Services and 2) Liberal Studies Child Development Elementary Education (LSCE) which includes the 4-year integrated Bachelor’s degree and Special Education Teaching Credential. In addition, the department offers minors in American Indian Education, Early Childhood Education, Family Studies, and American Sign Language and Special Populations.
Economics, B.A.
An interdisciplinary program where students evaluate real-world events and analyze complex issues through hands-on learning in everything from natural resources, sustainability, and clean energy to finance, development, and international trade. Student opportunities include internships with the Small Business Development Center, the Humboldt Economic Index, cannabis research, rural economic development service learning, and instructional student assistant positions. Economics develops strong analytical and problem-solving skills that prepare students for a variety of high-paying jobs.
Kinesiology, B.S.
Going beyond the scientific study of human movement, Kinesiology prepares students for exciting careers in exercise and sports science, physical education and coaching, and applied health sciences, while also fostering professional responsibility to social justice and service to underserved communities.
Leadership Studies, B.A.
An interdisciplinary program which offers students a dynamic education that is delivered 100% online. Students build leadership skills that promote an understanding of equity and inclusion for personal, community, and organizational transformation. Students graduate with the skills and motivation to become positive and informed agents of change.
Liberal Studies Elementary Education, B.A.
A lively, interactive program where students engage with children and educators in local classrooms, building their understanding of the developmental, emotional, social, and intellectual needs of elementary learners. Students earn a Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies Elementary Education with an option for a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential.
Nursing, B.S.
The RN-to-BSN degree expands on clinical nursing skills to provide students with a holistic lens of health in the communities where their patients live, work, and play. Nurses develop the compassionate leadership skills necessary to deliver higher-quality care, increase access, and reduce burnout among the critical health care workforce.
Psychology, B.A.
Trains students to scientifically and critically evaluate psychological processes while addressing the impact of culture and context on human function. Students graduate ready to apply their knowledge and skills to various career paths that support a more just and equitable society.
Recreation Administration, B.A.
A career-focused and hands-on degree, Recreation Administration students learn in Humboldt’s incredibly beautiful natural environment. Small class sizes allow students to develop practical knowledge and skills through practica in nearby parks, wilderness areas, lakes, beaches, rivers, and recreation-oriented organizations.
Social Work, B.A.
Prepares students for generalist social work practice, entry-level social work professions, and graduate school, with a special focus on working with Indigenous and rural communities. Through coursework and required community-based practicum, the program works to decolonize mainstream social work education practices by building reciprocal and dynamic relationships across communities.
