COMPASS oversees the grant-funded STEM Pathways and Research Alliance California State University Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (CSU-LSAMP@Humboldt) program.

CSU-LSAMP@Humboldt was initiated in 1993 with National Science Foundation (NSF) support to serve as a comprehensive California State University (CSU) statewide program dedicated to broadening participation in graduate degrees and the professoriate in STEM disciplines. LSAMP students receive guidance and information on how to prepare for, apply to, and be successful in graduate programs.

The CSU-LSAMP STEM Pathways and Research Alliance is an alliance-based program, whereby all 23 California State University (CSU) institutions of higher education work together to diversify the nation's science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) workforce by increasing the number of STEM baccalaureate and graduate degrees awarded to participants from groups who have faced or face social, educational, or economic barriers to careers in STEM.
