Mat Whiteley
Lecturer
Mat Whiteley is an interdisciplinary artist from Beaverton, Oregon. Their animation has been screened internationally and their illustrations featured in newspapers such as Seattle's The Stranger. As a researcher they are interested in the depiction of imagery by international storytellers who use comics, animation and/or multimedia to communicate; especially stories in the genres of horror and sci-fi relating to gender-identity, sexuality and/or the repercussions of war. Mat received their BFA from Oregon State University with a concentration in drawing with a minor in art history, and received their MFA in Digital Art from Indiana University. As a creator they are currently working on a series of queer horror stories and is a collector of VHS and Laserdisc.
