Scholarships
To help you pay for your education, Cal Poly Humboldt offers scholarships for new, current, and transfer students who are Art majors. Please note amounts and numbers of scholarships may vary each year.
Our annual Art Awards ceremony takes place at the closing of the annual Graduating Students Exhibition and offers awards to the many talented graduating students of our department.

Van Duzer Scholarship
Amount: $1,500
The Albert and Mildred Van Duzer scholarships are awarded to students in the Art or Theater, Film and Dance departments.
Amounts and numbers of scholarships are estimates, dependent on fund.
The Van Duzer Scholarship was designated in memory of Albert and Mildred Van Duzer with the stipulation that these scholarships be awarded to worthy Humboldt students, giving preference to students majoring or active in the creative arts. Artistic potential in creative production and performance is the sole criterion for the award. Artistic or creative potential will not be judged as being restricted to those students who are performers, or who are producing works of art, but may also include individuals concentrating in the areas of history, criticism, theory, composition, etc. Up to $1,500 ($750 each semester) per scholarship in the Department of Art, Department of Music and the Department of Theatre, Film and Dance. Must be enrolled full-time at Humboldt at the time of application and during both semesters of the academic year and remain active in the arts at Humboldt.
Martin Wong Scholarship (Ceramics & Painting)
Amount: 2 awards, $3,000, $2,000 (approx.) for each medium
The Martin Wong Foundation scholarship competition was established to recognize and support excellence in ceramics and painting, the areas in which Martin Wong first pursued his interest in art, and later established his reputation. The first prize in each medium will be in the amount of $3,000 and the second prize will be in the amount of $2,000. Since the scholarship is intended to support the continuation of a student’s education, we ask their enrollment in classes in the next fall semester be confirmed before awards are disbursed.
Pattie Atkinson Scholarship
Amount: $1,000
The Pattie Span Atkinson scholarship is for students pursuing a degree in art, with a focus in painting. Students who plan to continue the art of painting after, earning a degree in good academic standing, per the standards of the University. Demonstrated financial need.
