Dave Zdrazil
Lecturer
Originally from St. Croix County, Wisconsin, Dave Zdrazil (pronounced DRAY-zel)
studied at the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire and earned an M.F.A. at the University
of North Texas. He makes a variety of ceramic objects that are a fusion of traditional
and contemporary pottery styles. Other influences in his work are sustainability,
horticulture, and local materials.
Dave’s kiln related research has contributed to innovations in wood fired kilns, hybrid
kilns and the world’s first hydrogen fueled kiln (2009). He has presented at the National
Council on Education for Ceramic Arts in the U.S. and at international conferences in
France, Australia, Germany and Denmark. His artwork has been exhibited
internationally and he has published articles in Ceramics Monthly, Ceramics Technical,
and The Log Book. Zdrazil is also an Associate Faculty member at College of the
Redwoods, in Eureka.
