David E. Webb Language Learning Center
A dedicated space for language speaking, practice, tools and technology, group work, WLC clubs and classes, also used for regularly scheduled tutoring sessions for French, German, and Spanish, and other Department of World Languages & Cultures classes. The Center is open to all Humboldt students. There are eight PC stations and an instructor console, two printers, an LCD projector and screen, a whiteboard, and a conference table.
The Center is named after Humboldt alumnus David E. Webb, a local student who became a remarkable world citizen through the study of language. As a Spanish major, Webb, who grew up in Humboldt County, participated in the California State University International Program in Granada. He went on to complete his master’s degree in Spanish at the University of New Mexico and his Ph.D. in Spanish at UCLA.
David was passionate about travel, life, people, languages, and cultures. He reminds us of the inner greatness we all have within us to realize our dreams.
