Student Research Competition
39th Annual CSU Student Research Competition
April 25-26, 2025
The California State University Student Research Competition is an annual event that brings together scholars from the 23 campuses of our California State University system. The competition showcases undergraduate and graduate research, scholarship, and creative works by recognizing outstanding student accomplishments across the 23 campuses. In 2025, Cal Poly Humboldt will be hosting the system-wide competition for the first time ever!

Over 200 scholars from 23 CSU campuses, including undergraduate and graduate students, and recent alumni, will attend the 39th annual competition!
- Students will present their work orally before an audience and juries of experts and non-experts
- Presentations are 10 minutes maximum followed by 5 minutes of Q&A
- Students who place first will receive $500 and second place will receive $250 (and a trophy!)
- 2025 trophies will be designed/fabricated by Cal Poly Humboldt Makerspace students
- Students will compete by discipline category (see list of examples)
- There will be separate undergraduate and graduate divisions for each category
Each CSU campus appoints a campus coordinator and develops its own procedures for selecting student delegates to the system-wide competition. Interested students should contact their campus coordinator for more information. Only those students endorsed by the campus coordinator can enter the system-wide competition.
**The deadline to enter the Cal Poly Humboldt campus-wide Student Research Competition is January 31, 2025. Cal Poly Humboldt students should visit the Engagement Hub for more information.
