Student Research Competition

Over 200 scholars from 23 CSU campuses, including undergraduate and graduate students, and recent alumni, will attend the 39th annual competition!

  • Students will present their work orally before an audience and juries of experts and non-experts
  • Presentations are 10 minutes maximum followed by 5 minutes of Q&A
  • Students who place first will receive $500 and second place will receive $250 (and a trophy!)
  • 2025 trophies will be designed/fabricated by Cal Poly Humboldt Makerspace students
  • Students will compete by discipline category (see list of examples)
  • There will be separate undergraduate and graduate divisions for each category

Each CSU campus appoints a campus coordinator and develops its own procedures for selecting student delegates to the system-wide competition. Interested students should contact their campus coordinator for more information. Only those students endorsed by the campus coordinator can enter the system-wide competition.

**The deadline to enter the Cal Poly Humboldt campus-wide Student Research Competition is January 31, 2025. Cal Poly Humboldt students should visit the Engagement Hub for more information.
