Aylea moved to Humboldt in 2007 from Encinitas in Southern California and graduated from Humboldt State University with a Botany degree. She worked in Humboldt managing various soil, botany and mycology labs for many years before returning to get her MBA from Cal Poly Humboldt in 2022. She now works in the College of Professional Studies Dean’s Office and owns her own business, Mycelia Media, optimizing her client’s online business presence and organizing local events. 

Community and sustainability are of the utmost importance to Aylea. She believes in connection, transparency and open source information. In her spare time she loves adventuring with her dogs, cuddling her cat and co-creating activities with her friend family. Time in and by water, camping, walks in nature and festivals are some of her favorite pastimes.
