Jennifer Kho

Jennifer Kho, 1999 Journalism, and husband, Matt Krupnick, are currently living in Brooklyn, New York. Kho is the managing editor of the Guardian US. Kho and Krupnick were previously living in Oaxaca, Mexico for nearly a year.

Matt Krupnick

Journalism, 1998

Matt Krupnick, 1998 Journalism, currently lives in Brooklyn, New York. Krupnick lives with his wife, Jennifer Kho, who is also a 1999 Journalism graduate from HSU. Krupnick is a freelance journalist for The New York Times, Guardian US, and Hechinger Report. Krupnick and Kho recently visited HSU and wished they still lived in Humboldt County.

John Baker

Journalism, 1998

John Baker, Journalism, 1998, worked several years for multiple Bay Area newspapers before entering public service. He went back to school, earning an MPA from San Francisco State University, and currently works as a local government liaison for the State of California. He was elected to the South San Francisco Unified School District’s Board of Trustees in 2016, and currently serves as its president.

Michelle I Teasley (formerly Teets)

Journalism, 1998

Michelle I. Teasley (née Teets), 1998 Journalism, after working as a reporter for several years, and then being a stay-at-mom for several more, returned to school to become a registered nurse. Teasley is currently a charge nurse on the Progressive Care Unit at Shasta Regional Medical Center in Redding. She lives with her husband Tim, also a 1998 HSU grad, two kids, Kara, 13, and Matthew, 11, in Anderson, Calif.

Stephen L Kraynick

Journalism, 1997

Coach Kraynick (Journalism, '98) scored career tennis win No.100 at Kellis HS (Glendale, AZ) on 4/12/20. This isn't counting his head coaching collegiate wins at Lock Haven University (Lock Haven, PA) or Allan Hancock College (Santa Maria, CA). Coach Kraynick coached at the HS level in CA, PA, and AZ, winning sectional championships in all three states; in addition to winning the CCCAA divisional championship at Hancock College in 1995, he coached the Top-25 NCAA Division II women's team at Lock Haven University (1998-2000). Coach K has also worked with numerous ATP/WTA Professionals on tour.

Jennifer Moline, 1996 Journalism, resides in Oakland, Calif., and takes public transportation to her job in San Francisco as the social media manager for Skout, a geo-location based app for meeting people. She lives with her two cats and still tries to get up to Arcata annually to bask in the redwoods and drink the local beers.

After multiple layoffs from newspapers, magazines and tech websites, I've settled into deadline-free blogging and lite marketing for a small, Bay Area-based printing company. I might not be changing the world, but I'm stress-free, loving living in Oakland with my sister and two cats!

Pete Narensky

Journalism, 1995

Recently retired after 24 years of service with the U.S. Customs Service and Department of Homeland Security serving as a Criminal Investigator. Mr. Narensky most recently achieved the rank of Assistant Special Agent in Charge and led a Financial Crimes Taskforce in Long Beach, CA. Mr. Narensky has started a second career working as Head of Security for the West Coast for a large global logistics company. 

Mary Brown

Journalism, 1993

Mary Brown, 1993 Journalism, moved to San Francisco after graduating. Brown started working for the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition in 1997, where she became the Membership Director. Brown is best known for leading the Valencia Street bike lanes campaign. Brown left the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition in 2005 and then earned a master’s degree in Geography from San Francisco State University. Afterward she worked for the San Francisco Planning Department. Brown passed away December of lung cancer.

Michael Harmon

Michael Harmon, 1992 Photojournalism, is semi retired from journalism and photography though he still does an occasional job here and there. Harmom taught English as a Second Language for nearly 8 years in Henan Province in Central China. He has been back in the U.S. for about three years and can not wait to return to China.
