How to Apply
Thank you for your interest in the Pre-Med Paid Summer Internship. Participants selected will be receiving a stipend of a minimum of $4,500 for ten weeks (40 hours per week) while shadowing/observing local hospitals and clinical offices during the Summer of 2025. The deadline to apply is Nov. 17, 2024.
The selection process will involve reviewing applications, after which chosen participants will be registered for BIOL 482 (Supervised Internship) in both the Spring and Summer of 2025. Students who have previously completed BIOL 482 will not be required to retake the course during the Spring 2025 term. However, it's important to note that all students must be enrolled in BIOL 482 for the Summer 2025 term.
Review of applications will begin in Novermber 18, 2024. Program spaces are limited and those not initially selected will be placed on a waiting list.
Eligibility:
Although this course is open to students from any university or community member, preference for acceptance will be given to Cal Poly Humboldt and the College of the Redwoods students.
Applicants are expected to have completed at least four semesters of college by May 2025.
The recruitment of the summer interns is not limited to one group of students, but priority consideration is granted to applicants who are:
- American Indian or Alaska Natives
- Black / African American
- Hispanic / Latino / Latinx
- Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander
- Adult/non-traditional learners (including veterans)
- Dreamer (AB540 students)
- First-generation college students
- Former foster youth
- Members of the LGBTQ+ community
- Pell grant recipient
- Persons with disabilities
- Refugees
- Other economically disadvantaged individuals
- Other educationally disadvantaged individuals
