Alyssa Huynh

Current Trainee

I am from San Jose, California and currently studying Biology: Cellular & Molecular with a minor in Chemistry, Native American studies and ASL & Specialize Populations at Cal Poly Humboldt. I also work on campus at the Dean of Students Office and the Asian Design Pacific Islander & Middle Eastern North African Cultural Center. My goals for my career path is hoping to be pediatrician or pediatric surgeon and to be open my own practice in a rural community with an understanding of the business aspect in order to offer free health care and inclusive environment in the clinic. What inspired me to do this is seeing the need in my elementary classmates where they worried about if their family can afford health care and later on learning people having trouble trusting physicians or facing discrimination when getting treatment or even having a difficult time being seen. I am looking forward to this internship where I am able to learn and develop new skills that are being taught from local rural doctors. Not only learning about the doctor’s field but also the team they work with and the logistics that go into patient care and about patients need and interactions.
