The Rou Dalagurr: Food Sovereignty Lab and Traditional Ecological Knowledges Institute's Indigenous Foods Festival is an annual event that focuses on uplifting Indigenous food sovereignty across many regions. The festival includes an outdoor area where several organizations host tables, offering demonstrations, informational and educational materials, food, art, and merch. There is also the larger Native American Forum space and our Food Sovereignty Lab space, where discussion panels, speaker presentations, and workshops take place throughout the festival. The festival is free and open to the public.

"The Indigenous Foods Festival is such an important way to recognize the deeply held knowledges and relationships to place that Indigenous communities maintain in our region. The continuation and celebration of traditional foods illustrates the survivance of California Indian peoples." said Dr. Kaitlin Reed, co-director of the lab.

“From the beginning the development of the lab has been guided by tribal community representatives and passionate student advocates and research assistants. We are so proud of the work all of the students have done to make this project so successful. We are also grateful for the many community donors who supported us along the way,” said Dr. Cutcha Risling Baldy, co-director of the lab.

This year's Indigenous Foods Festival will be held on Saturday, October 11th, 2025 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Wiyot Plaza. We will have several organizations tabling, as well as multiple speaker panels, presentations, cooking workshops, and other hands-on activities. The IFF 2025 food vendors include: Frybread Love, Mother’s Cooking Experience, Pupuseria San Miguel, Pineapple Express, and Los Giles. This year's IFF is sponsored by the Cal Poly Humboldt Native American Studies Department, Elevate Youth California, the Specialty Crop Block Grant Program, Cowell Foundation & Donors like you. We would love to have you as part of the Indigenous Foods Festival 2025!
