ODEI Student Fellow

My name is Wysdem Singleton and I am an ODEI student fellow. I am a 4th year Business Accounting student here at Cal Poly Humboldt. I have always enjoyed math and have found an interest in preparing taxes.This year I am also the Associated Students President. I have been involved within the Arcata and school community the past 2 semesters. I was a volunteer and director for Y.E.S (Youth Educational Services) and I am currently a College Corps fellow with over 600 hours of service completed last year and still counting for this year. I enjoy working with children, especially children of color because I know how difficult it can be living in Humboldt County. I hope with my presence they can feel comfortable in their own skin. 

After I graduate I plan to join an accounting firm and take the CPA exam and become a Forensic Accountant. I also plan to continue doing work within the education system whether it’s helping in classrooms or administrative help. My ultimate goal is to be able to provide free financial advice and free tax services to those within the working class. Financial literacy is one of the top issues within these communities and I want to help bridge that gap of wealth disparity.
