What technology do I need to succeed at Cal Poly Humboldt?
You are going to need some technology, and we can help!
Although your instructors may use different technology throughout the semester, all of us will be using a few common tools. Having and knowing how to use these tools will be essential to academic success this year. So, at a minimum, what do you need?
- A computer (Windows/Mac/Chromebook)
- Reliable Internet access
- Zoom (download it and log in via SSO at the domain humboldtstate or click on the Zoom button at MyHumboldt via computer)
What else do I need to know?
1. Course specific technology
Since teaching and learning is dynamic, your instructors may choose to use various digital tools (software) that you have to access. Be sure to ask your instructors for the software requirements of your courses. Consider emailing them or checking Canvas before class begins so you can start strong.
2. Software access
You can access all of our lab software remotely. Learn how to find and access software.
Any other recommendations for me?
Consider getting:
- Headset with microphone (think some sense of privacy) (borrow one here)
- Webcam (might be built-in to laptop or smartphone) (borrow one here)
- AdobeScan for scanning handwritten assignments (Play Store, App Store)
