Andrew Michler

Art, attended 1990-1993

Andrew Michler, 1993 Art, just released the book [ours] Hyperlocalization of Architecture by eVolo Press. [ours] explores sustainable building design. Michler explored and documented the work first hand, and investigates how these buildings function in the context of their culture, environment, and utility.

Joel Heng Hartse

English, 2007

Joel Heng Hartse, 2007 English, taught at universities in China for two years after finishing his M.A. in English at HSU. Hartse completed his Ph.D. in TESL in the Department of Language and Literacy at the University of British Columbia, and as of September 2015, has a teaching-focused, continuing faculty appointment as a lecturer in the Faculty of Education at Simon Fraser University in British Columbia. Heartse lives in Vancouver, British Columbia, with his wife and their two sons.

Jarad Petroske and his wife, Angie (née Renzo), also an alumna ('09, NRPI), welcomed their second child, Henrietta, in 2014.

Erin Carlson-Jones

Communication, 2001

Erin Carlson-Jones, 2001 Communication, is a licensed clinical social worker and trainer. Carlson-Jones has worked in children's mental health for many years, and is now the Director of a 65-bed residential treatment program in San Jose, Calif. Carlson-Jones has been married for 10 years and owns a home in Boulder Creek, Calif.

Ali

Sociology, 2002 B.A. and 2009 M.A.

Ali R. Chaudhary, 2002 Sociology and 2009 Sociology, earned his Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of California, Davis, in 2015. He is currently a Marie Curie Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Oxford and enjoying life in the U.K. with his wife Rebecca Kellawan and their newborn son, Miles Ali Chaudhary. In January 2017, they will move to New York City, when Ali will take up his position as an Assistant Professor of Sociology at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey.

H.A. Nethery IV

Philosophy, 2003

H.A. Nethery IV, 2003 Philosophy, received an M.A. in philosophy from the University of Memphis, and a Ph.D. in philosophy from Duquesne University.
Nethery is currently an assistant professor of philosophy in the Department of Religion and Philosophy at Florida Southern College.

Katrina (Katie) S. Hagen Radlick

PoliticsFrench, 1994

Katrina "Katie" S. Hagen Radlick, 1994, Politics and French, was appointed by Gov. Brown as the Chief Deputy Director of Operations at the state Dept. of Human Resources in March. Prior to this appointment, Radlick served as the Chief of Human Resources at CalPERS, the California Public Employee Retirement System. She is also an Adjunct Faculty member at the University of San Francisco teaching Human Resource Administration

Jessica Peters

Anthropology, 2010

Jessica Peters, 2010, Anthropology, interned at the American Embassy in Paris. While there Peters was accepted into UCLA’s Anthropology PhD program, and received her M.A. in Sociocultural Anthropology in 2012 and her Ph.D. in Sociocultural Anthropology in 2015. During this time Peters also presented research at the AAAs and at the Interdisciplinary Conference in the Humanities (organized by the University of West Georgia).

Joshua Martin (f/k/a/ Joshua Roberts)

HistoryEnglish (double major), 1998

Joshua Martin (formerly known as Joshua Roberts), 1998 English & History, worked at the Hotel Arcata for a year or so after graduating. Martin then entered law school at the University of Utah, accompanied by his girlfriend, Bonnie Jo McLauchlan (also an HSU graduate). Martin made law review, graduated, and practiced criminal defense in Salt Lake City. He later moved on to civil litigation. In 2007 Martin moved to San Louis Obispo County and opened the Law Offices of Joshua W. Martin in 2013. Martin married Bonnie Jo and the couple lives in Grover Beach, Calif., with their two boys, Max, 10, and Charlie, 5, and their dog, Scooby.
