October 20, 2022
Mihai Tomescu has had a new plant species named after him "for his contributions to the knowledge of fossil cryptogams", as stated by the authors of the paper, Alexander Schmidt (University of Göttingen, Germany) et al. (https://bioone.org/journals/willdenowia/volume-52/issue-2/wi.52.52203/i…). Selaginella tomescui is a fossil lycopsid preserved in Cretaceous amber deposits from Myanmar.
