September 19, 2022
Hello everyone,
I hope you had a wonderful weekend.
Congratulations
Hats off to the Cal Poly Humboldt Cross Country team that made an incredible showing at the Jim Hunt Invitational this weekend. Well done team!
MarCom Gathering Academic Program Recruitment Content
MarCom will be seeking materials from academic programs to create marketing materials in time for Fall Preview! Please be on the lookout for requests for information and review! I know we've been eagerly awaiting these items and this is coming when there is a lot on everyone's plates (including MarCom). I appreciate your help getting this material compiled and reviewed!
The University will provide a table cover, a retractable floor or table banner, and a fact sheet to each program as part of a recruitment package at no cost to the departments, along with some standard Cal Poly Humboldt swag items.
2022 Art + Film Faculty & Staff Exhibition
Please join the Art + Film Department in a reintroduction to the campus and greater
community, along with new Faculty + Staff additions! The exhibition in Reese Bullen Gallery runs through Saturday, October 15, 2022. See the professional work and diverse talents of instructor & staff artists through a wide spectrum of forms, themes, and styles. The exhibition features ceramics, painting, photography, printmaking, film, sculpture, metalsmithing, jewelry, and drawing.
More information along with a virtual tour of the exhibition is available at art.humboldt.edu/galleries. The Reese Bullen Gallery is located in Art B 101, just off the Art Quad, across from Van Duzer Theatre. The Gallery is open Wednesdays and Thursdays from 12 pm-6 pm, Fridays from 11 am-5 pm, Saturdays from 11 am-2 pm, and closed Sun/Mon/Tues. It opens 1 hour before Fulkerson Recital Hall and Van Duzer theatre events. To visit the gallery by appointment, please contact the Gallery Director at rbg@humboldt.edu, or call 707-826-3629.
Library Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and Scavenger Hunt
On Wednesday, September 21 at 3:00 pm on the steps of the Library, we will have a ribbon-cutting ceremony where I will join Library Dean Cyril Oberlander and Associated Students President Juan Giovanni Guerrero to speak about the reopening of the Library, the remarkable collaboration by all that made this milestone possible and what it means to our students.
Agricultural Research Institute (ARI) 2023/2024 Competition Now Open
Agricultural Research Institute (ARI) funds are available to all tenured, tenure-track faculty, or research associates engaging in agricultural research. Proposals can request up to $150,000. ARI projects must have a strong link to agriculture, including forestry and aquaculture.
The Sponsored Programs Foundation will also be hosting an “ARI F.A.Q. Session" on Wednesday, September 28 from 2:00-3:00 pm in the Great Hall (located above the College Creek Marketplace). This will be an informational meeting where interested faculty can come and discuss their ARI Proposal ideas. SPF Staff, ARI Review Committee Members, and David Still (Executive Director, CSU ARI) will be available to answer questions.
Space Allocation Call
The University Space and Advisory Committee (USFAC) is currently accepting space requests directly from Colleges or Major Budget Units (MBU for non-academic departments). Please refer to the Space Requests webpage and the Pre-Submittal checklist for submittal details. New space requests may be submitted by MBUs via the "Space Request Form" anytime throughout the year, although only space requests submitted prior to 5:00 PM on Thursday, October 20, 2022, will be included in this year’s review.
Space requests recommended by Divisions for USFAC review will be added to the active space request page on the USFAC website in early November 2022. Requests will be reviewed by the USFAC and matched, when possible, with available open space. New space allocations will be announced by portal message midway through Spring Term 2023. Any request submitted after the October 20, 2022 review date will be considered in the next review process. All questions about the space request process or form should be sent to space@humboldt.edu.
Submit your Space Allocation Request here
Enjoy your Monday.
