Hello everyone and happy Wednesday. I hope you are having a great week.
Save the Date: Spring Academic Affairs Welcome Back on Friday January 12, 2024 from 9am-11am.
Please join me and your Academic Affairs colleagues for our Spring 2024 Welcome Back on Friday, January 12, 2024. The Welcome Back will take place from 9:00-11:00 am in the Great Hall. A light breakfast will be served. More information on the topics discussed will be announced early next week. This will take the place of Professional Development Day this Spring. Stay tuned for more information coming soon.
Thank you!
I wanted to offer my gratitude to Julie Alderson for stepping in as the Integrated Curriculum Committee Chair during this past Fall 2023 semester as well as Marissa Ramsier for jumping in as the GEAR Chair for mid-semester and agreeing to serve for the next three years. Thanks to you both for your exceptional leadership.
Nominations for 2022-2023 Distinguished Faculty Awards
On behalf of the Cal Poly Humboldt University Senate, the Faculty Awards Committee is pleased to announce the solicitation of nominations for the following faculty awards:
• Excellence in Teaching Award– Lecturer
• Excellence in Teaching Award– Tenure-line faculty
• Scholar of the Year
• Outstanding Service Award
• Outstanding Professor Award
You are encouraged to nominate eligible faculty by submitting a letter of nomination summarizing the nominee’s outstanding qualities along with the required supporting evidence provided by the nominee, as detailed here: https://aavp.humboldt.edu/nomination-guidelines. Faculty may also nominate themselves. The letter of nomination and supporting evidence are to be sent electronically via email to senate@humboldt.edu by February 13, 2024. If you need assistance with submitting your nomination, please contact the University Senate office (senate@humboldt.edu or andrea.bright@humboldt.edu).
Nominees must meet the eligibility criteria specified for the award for which they are nominated as detailed here: https://aavp.humboldt.edu/nomination-guidelines. Because putting together an effective nomination dossier places a certain burden on the nominee, please be sure to notify the nominee well in advance of the deadline. If possible, nominators should share the responsibility of gathering letters from students, colleagues, etc. in support of the nomination.
Based on the nomination letter and other supporting evidence, the Faculty Awards Committee will select the nominees whose contributions reflect superiority with regard to the criteria set forth by the Cal Poly Humboldt Senate. The Committee’s decisions will be forwarded to the University Senate for its consideration at the Senate meeting of April 9, 2024 and then forwarded to the President for conferral of awards. If you have questions, please contact the University Senate office (senate@humboldt.edu).
Have a great rest of your week.
