March 29, 2023

Hi everyone,

Happy Wednesday and I hope your week is going well.

Project Rebound Reentry Simulation Tuesday, May 2, 2023, from 1:30 pm-3:30 pm

I am hopeful that many of you are familiar with the great work that Project Rebound does on our campus which is a program that empowers formerly incarcerated and system-impacted students at Cal Poly Humboldt. Project Rebound is putting on a Reentry Simulation Event to help educate folx on the challenges and barriers that exist for people who are reentering communities after being incarcerated. The Reentry Simulation event will take place on Tuesday, May 2nd, 1:30-3:30 pm in the College Creek Community Center above the College Market Place. You can register for the event here. We are hoping for a great turnout so please consider registering as this is a powerful and important event. The Reentry Simulation is open to community members but requires a different pathway to registration by emailing the Program Director Tony Wallin-Sato, Tony.Wallin@humboldt.edu.

Request for Proposals: Creating Responsive, Equitable, and Active Teaching and Engagement (CREATE) Awards Program 2023-2024

The California State University Office of the Chancellor is seeking proposals for the Creating Responsive, Equitable, Active Teaching and Engagement (CREATE) Awards Program. The second year of the program underscores the critically important role faculty play in providing high-quality instruction, preparing students for the rest of their educational journey, and ensuring that students are career ready. CREATE awards are designed to highlight the importance of accelerating our collective momentum toward closing equity gaps and ensuring a high-quality, engaging learning environment for all students. The program aims to energize faculty commitment to meeting Graduation Initiative 2025 goals by increasing a shared sense of responsibility for student success.

Proposals must be submitted no later than Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at 11:59 pm to be considered by the selection committee. For more details about the CSU CREATE Awards Program, please view the request for proposals and the proposal guide (attached) or the CREATE Awards Program website. You may also contact Dr. Chenoa S. Woods, director of Research and Student Success Initiatives, at cswoods@calstate.edu.
