January 22, 2025

Hello everyone,

I hope your spring semester is off to a good start. There is already a lot of vibrant activity on campus. We had our Senate Executive Committee meeting yesterday and I am excited about the level of engagement and meaningful work planned centering care, transparency, and shared governance.

Shout Out: Awesome Professional Development Day Last Friday!

Thanks to Enoch, Hale, Chrissy Holiday, Stephanie Souter, and all of the incredible faculty and staff who participated in Professional Development Day last Friday. The focus on recruitment was very well received and the engagement and wisdom shared was awesome.

Green and Gold Guarantee

In case you missed it, Enrollment Management and Student Success is launching a new program called the Green and Gold Guarantee which provides financial support to students who qualify. The Green and Gold Guarantee ensures that tuition and mandatory fees are fully covered. This has launched immediately and creates access to a polytechnic education for residents of California and helps students and their families see a clear path to college. Here is the press release

Collaboration with the City of Arcata

Cal Poly Humboldt and the City of Arcata recently collaborated on a Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity (RAISE) Grant, administered by CalTrans. The University received word last week that this award, in the amount of $14,934,000, was funded. The project will reconstruct the existing US 101 and Sunset Avenue interchange with two roundabouts. This project will also provide pedestrian and bicycle access, new bus stops, signage, lighting, ADA improvements, as well as connections to the adjacent Class I trail system. Construction will begin in 2026. This is a critical connection point for the University and our new Hinarr Hu Moulik Student Housing.

Change in Accommodation Memorandums

The Campus Disability Resource Center (CDRC) has implemented additional changes to the Accommodation Memorandums (AMs) that list approved accommodations for students with disabilities.

Last semester, the CDRC began sending the memorandums directly to the students who would then forward them to their faculty members. This change gave students the choice and agency to decide with whom they shared their accommodations. This semester, CDRC is pleased to announce that students are now receiving one (1) Accommodation Memorandum that is valid for the duration of the semester.  Below the title, “Accommodation Memorandum” will be the semester for which the AM is valid. When accepting an accommodation memorandum from students, ensure that you are accepting the current semester’s memorandum. While every effort has been made to assist Google in not classifying the forwarded accommodation memorandum as spam, there is a chance that a memorandum forwarded from students may be delivered to your spam folders. If you believe you have students in your class who have been approved for academic accommodations from the CDRC, please check your inbox as well as your spam folders.  Students registered with the CDRC are encouraged to connect with their faculty to ensure their accommodation memorandum has been received.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding Accommodation Memorandums received, please contact the Campus Disability Resource Center at (707) 826-4678 or student504@humboldt.edu. If you’d like IT assistance with your research project, please contact us at itsresearchsupport@humboldt.edu.
