January 15, 2025

Good morning academic affairs colleagues. Welcome back! Whether this is your first day back or you returned to work shortly after the New Year, I hope you enjoyed some time away doing the things that you love. I was able to find good snow and good waves to surf as well as spend time with my snuggly pups which made for a great break. I also got some downtime to reflect and I’m excited for the Spring 2025 semester.

I know we all have been watching the coverage of the fires that have tragically affected the LA area very closely. With a significant population of our students hailing from Southern California as well as many employees with roots in that area, the impact is significant. Please check in on each other and consider offering grace to students and colleagues who may be directly impacted.

Please join President Spagna, myself, and university leadership at today’s Spring Welcome Back at 9 am in Van Duzer Theatre as we celebrate past achievements, share key updates, and look ahead to a promising semester. I hope you see you there.

Integrated Curriculum Committee (ICC) Curriculum Development Planning 2025

In collaboration with the Curriculum Office, the ICC is gathering information about planned or in-process curricular development across the university.  A form was created to gather information about current and planned curriculum development. The information collected here will give the ICC a clearer snapshot of the current curricular work that is in the pre-submission process and provide opportunities to communicate and connect with curriculum proposers earlier in the MCC/Curriculog proposal submission cycle.

Through this information-gathering tool, the hope is to:

  • enhance the efficiency of the curriculum development and review process

  • know about the proposals that are in process, but not launched in MCC/Curriculog

  • allow further opportunities for the Curriculum Office to support the proposal process

  • provide additional layers for review from the curriculum office to ensure submissions are clean and ready for committee review

  • help us to bring a more strategic planning approach to the work of the ICC and its subcommittees

Thank you, in advance, for taking the time to complete this short survey which you can find here, and please share it with department chairs, program leads, and any other members of your team who are in the proposal development for new or updated curriculum. A huge thanks to Sara Sterner for her leadership with ICC.

Happy first green day!

Sincerely,

Jenn Capps
