January 11, 2023

Hello everyone and welcome back. I am excited about the Spring 2024 semester. I hope you were able to refresh over the break. I enjoyed downtime with family and friends including my two pups Hamish and Chester. I spent a lot of time outside, running, hiking, and snowboarding, but not surfing (those waves are way too big for me right now). I also read, watched a lot of sports, slept, and had the opportunity to reflect on our many successes. Thanks to each of you for all that you contribute to our campus community.

Academic Affairs Welcome Back: Friday, January 12, 2024

Please join me for the Academic Affairs Spring Welcome Back on Friday, January 12, 2024, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am in the Great Hall. We will break bread together (quiche), I will provide a welcome address and then we will focus our time seeking engagement and input from the campus community on the Academic Master Plan’s low degree-conferring academic programs action planning and timelines. Specifically, we will focus on gathering feedback to inform evaluation criteria and metrics that we hope to finalize in early February 2024. Refreshments will be served. As a reminder, this event will take the place of Professional Development Day this spring. All faculty and staff are invited within Academic Affairs and across the university. Your voice is important and I hope to see you there.

3D Digital Herbarium Launch Celebration - Thursday, January 25, 2024

Please save the date and join us for the 3D Digital Herbarium Launch Celebration that is being held on Thursday, January 25, 2024, in the Humboldt Scholars lab, Library, third floor. A 3D Digital Herbarium provides interactive web, augmented reality, and a virtual reality environment to learn Botany. Pizza and refreshments will be provided. See you there!

Syllabus Library Reminder Spring 2024

This is a reminder that each semester all courses taught by our university must have a syllabus on record with their department and made publicly available through a shared repository maintained by Academic Programs. Thank you to the instructors and departments who made this syllabus sharing a priority in Fall 2023. This creates transparency with our entire campus and public community.

In preparation for Spring 2024, please share these upcoming dates with your faculty and staff to reach the 100% participation rate described in our Syllabus Policy (Section VII. C. 3. link https://policy.humboldt.edu/syllabus-policy

Friday, January 19th Deadline --  Syllabus submitted to Department on first Friday of Instruction (per syllabus policy)

Friday, January 26th Deadline -- Syllabi for each spring semester course uploaded to shared "Syllabus Library Folder" linked HERE.

Please use the naming convention:
