For Your Awareness: Career Fair on Campus Tomorrow February 13, 2025
Tension and worry have been on high alert recently so I wanted to ensure that you were aware that we will have an increase in government vehicles on campus tomorrow Thursday,y February 13, 2025, from agencies who are participating in our Career Expo as employers. This will include federal employers like the US Dept of Agriculture, US Forestry, Go Army Eureka (Army recruiter office), and US Marines, as well as law enforcement including Humboldt County Probation, Eureka Police Dept, and CA Highway Patrol. This is a normal occurrence during our annual career fair activities, but I wanted to ensure you had this information, in case you hear reports or concerns.
Enrollment Update Related to Scholarships
We have seen more than 167% growth over last year in applications for scholarships for the coming year. The most growth came from new students, although we also saw growth in continuing students. This is great news as it likely indicates that we are starting to be able to utilize scholarships to impact enrollment behavior. Here is the comparative data over the last two years:
Scholarship Applications This Year:
Total applications: 3,026
New students- 1,704 (601 transfer, 37 Graduates, and 1,066 Freshman)
Continuing students- 1,322
Scholarship Applications Last Year:
Total applications: 1,131
New students- 210 (10 transfer, 18 Graduates, and 182 Freshman)
Continuing students- 921
