Hello everyone,
I hope you are having a great week. As we are wrapping up the last week of classes and looking to finals and commencement next week there are a number of events, activities, and engagement opportunities to remember.
Science on Tap: Today Wednesday, December 7, 2022, from 6-7:30 pm
This week is the last science on tap for the semester featuring Dr. Rafael Cuevas Uribe from the Department of Fisheries Biology. The talk is Wednesday, December 7 at Blondies Food and Drink in Arcata from 6-7:30 pm. The talk is entitled “Growing the New Weed (Kelp) in Humboldt.” Here is an announcement you can download from the Canvas Commons. This is a family-friendly event and all ages are welcome. Food and beverage are available to purchase from the wonderful wait staff at Blondies. All Science on Tap questions may be directed to C.D. Polytech Implementation Open Forum Reminder: Thursday, December 8, 2-3:30 pm
Please join the polytechnic implementation steering team tomorrow Thursday, December 8 from 2–3:30 p.m. in the College Creek Great Hall for an open forum to learn about updates related to the University’s polytechnic implementation plans. The forum will provide a brief overview of Polytechnic Implementation Working Group activities as well as answer your questions. This will be an in-person forum only, however, the forum will be recorded and distributed following the event. As always, you can get additional information and updates on our polytechnic transformation by visiting the Polytechnic website, emailing poly@humboldt.edu, or calling (707) 826-3300.
Sustainability Across the Curriculum Workshop: January 10-11, 2023 - Please Register
Cal Poly Humboldt will host a workshop on how to integrate sustainability across the curriculum. This 2-Day workshop is for faculty members from Cal Poly Humboldt who are planning to include a module on sustainability in an existing course or to develop a new course module with a sustainability focus. A certain number of spots will be reserved for them. Sustainability coordinators, analysts, and staff from other CSU campuses are invited to participate in the workshop to learn how to facilitate a workshop with the faculty on their campus.
- Workshop will take place January 10-11, 2023.
- Day one 9:30 am-5:00 pm; Day two 9:30 am – 4:30 pm.
- Participants are expected to attend both days of the two-day workshop.
- Continental breakfast and lunch will be served.
- Location: Humboldt Coastal Nature Center, 220 Stamps Ln, Arcata, CA 95521
- Cost: No cost for the workshop.
- To ensure a good fit between the workshop and attendees, a short online application is required.
- Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until December 10, 2022.

Faculty & Staff Holiday Party: Friday, December 9, 2022, from 4-6 pm
The Faculty & Staff Holiday Party will be held on Friday, December 9 from 4–6 pm in the West Gym. Enjoy food, drinks, and music with your colleagues at this annual event to welcome the holiday season and honor your contributions to our campus community.
Coat Drive Reminder: Saturday, December 10, 2022, from 3-5 pm
The 5th Annual David Josiah Lawson Coat Drive will be held on December 10, 2022, from 3-5 pm at the Arcata Plaza. Please see the attached poster for details. If you are unable to attend the event but would like to donate a coat feel free to drop one off at the Provost’s office located at Siemens Hall 216 and we would be happy to contribute to the coat drive on your behalf.
