September 9, 2024
Good morning and happy Monday. I hope you had a wonderful weekend!
Let’s Talk About Palestine and Israel - A Community Conversation and Three-Day Event Series: September 18-20, 2024
Please save the dates for a Community Conversation about Palestine and Israel September 18-20, 2024. Rabbi Steinberg (Cal Poly Emeritus Faculty), together with College of the Redwoods and Humboldt faculty have been organizing three days of food and community dialogue about Palestine and Israel. The events promise to be an electric dialogue space with an emphasis on people having informed and productive conversations with each other. Please add to your syllabi and/or departmental announcements, and share with friends and family. All are welcome. The events are free and food will be served on all three nights. This event will be held off-campus at various locations in our community. For more information please see the attached flyer and/or contact sara.hart@humboldt.edu
Chairs Leadership Group
As you may remember, last academic year I partnered with the council of chairs to establish a chairs leadership group. The purpose of this group is to come together with a representative, smaller group of department chairs (two from each college) and to strategize and agenda-set for our larger council of chairs meetings. I am grateful to this year’s leadership group which includes:
Ramesh Adhikari (Business)
Erin Kelly (Forestry, Fire, and Rangeland Management)
Jen Maguire (Social Work)
Josh Smith (Chemistry and Biochemistry)
Michihiro Sugata ( Sociology)
Lisa Tremain (English and Philosophy)

Office of Research & Sponsored Programs Summer 2024 Newsletter
The Office of Research is now publishing four newsletters during the academic year; fall, winter, spring, and summer. These newsletters are used to highlight new awards, share what improvements our office is currently working on, update our researchers on any important changes that may affect their projects, and keep the campus community up to date with relevant grant news. For the convenience of our PIs, we've archived our past issues, available here.
