October 7, 2024

Good morning everyone,

I hope that you all had a nice weekend. It was absolutely beautiful outside with so much sunshine. I hope you got a chance to get outside and enjoy yourself. I would be remiss if I didn’t acknowledge that October 7, 2024, marks the one-year anniversary of the attacks that initiated the ongoing Israel-HAMAS conflict. I imagine that this anniversary brings up myriad emotions for many of us in our community and I hope we approach this day (and every day) with care and compassion for each other.

Presidential Search Open Forum

The California State University (CSU) Board of Trustees is beginning the search for the next regularly appointed president of Cal Poly Humboldt. Faculty, staff, students, alumni, and members of the North Coast community are invited to attend an in-person open forum from 11 am to 1 pm on Thursday, October 10, in the Van Duzer Theatre. During this time, the Trustees’ Committee for the Selection of the President will outline the search process, and listen and learn from the campus community about the professional qualifications, experiences, and personal attributes they feel the next president must possess to be successful.

All members of our campus and local community are welcome and encouraged to participate. The open forum will also be live-streamed and archived on the President Search website, where individuals may also provide their input via written submission.

Pre-registration is not required to attend and to provide comments in person before the committee. If you wish to provide comments virtually during the open forum, you will need to register in advance here. The registration deadline for virtual participation is noon on Tuesday, October 8. Confirmed registrants will receive details about how to participate.

Join Bori Mazzag, Associate Dean-College of Natural Resources & Sciences, Emily Worm, Director of the Center for Community Based Learning Director (CCBL), and Kelly Fortner, Faculty & Student Support Coordinator (CCBL) for an overview of internships and other types of professional opportunities for students to apply their learning and discuss why these experiences are beneficial.
