Seeking Nominations for the Sustainability Champion Awards by April 1, 2024

Cal Poly Humboldt is accepting nominations for its eighth annual Sustainability Champion Awards program, to recognize faculty, professional staff, and student employees whose practices have deepened a culture of sustainability, have furthered the integration of sustainability into academics, student life or campus culture, and/or reduced Humboldt’s environmental footprint. Complete this form by Monday, April 1, 2024, to nominate a faculty, professional staff, or student staff member for an award.

Self-nominations are accepted. Winners and their nominators will be notified by Friday, April 14th, 2024.  Those with sustainability in their job title or with sustainability as an obligatory aspect of their job (e.g., Office of Sustainability staff, Sustainability Librarian, and the Faculty Sustainability Fellow) are not eligible for the award.

An award selection committee will choose up to three candidates who embody the spirit of innovation, collaboration, and leadership as they work to establish solutions to pressing challenges facing the campus and society. Each Sustainability Champion will receive a trophy and a feature profile in campus publications. The awards ceremony will be held in April during Earth Week, a series of events in celebration of Earth Day.

Distinguished Faculty Lecture: Excellence in teaching - Tenure Line Faculty - Noah Zerbe

Please join us on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, from 5 pm-7 pm in Goodwin Forum, (NHE102)  for another wonderful opportunity to engage with our distinguished faculty. A synopsis of Noah Zerbe's lecture topic is as follows:

From flipped courses to playful pedagogy, it’s hard to stay on top of the latest innovations and emerging technologies in teaching, especially as faculty tend to be siloed into their classrooms. In this interactive session, we’ll draw back to the curtain and engage in a conversation about effective teaching. Come and share your favorite activities and assignments, or just bring your questions.

Have a wonderful Monday.
