Our choices in machine learning have real-world implications for resource use, join us for a discussion of machine learning in biological sciences and how we can optimize our methods to minimize climate impact. We’ll talk through the wide range of ML choices in biology and how to pick based on functionality and minimalist approaches.

National Research Platform- JupyterHub Workshop- Library 308
Thursday, March 27, 2025, from 11 am-1 pm
Have you ever heard of the National Research Platform (NPR)? Are you curious about where people are running these artificial intelligence models we read about in the news daily? You can get those questions answered and more as the Humboldt High Performance Computing Center will be hosting a hands-on JupyterHub workshop. No experience or prior knowledge necessary. They will cover logging into the NRP, getting started in the JupyterHub environment, and getting access to lots of computing power. Draft Catalog Program/Course/MAP review comments due this Friday, March 28, 2025
As part of the process of creating and releasing our online catalog every year, we give our Departments and Colleges the opportunity to review their Programs, Courses, and MAPs every year. This is not an opportunity to change programs and courses outside the regular curricular process but an opportunity to double-check that they have been entered correctly based on the existing programs and courses. An initial email from Academic Programs was sent out on March 7, 2025.
Thank you for the responses already received. To facilitate this process, we have created a Google Form (instructions for accessing the draft are included in the header section) for you to indicate when your review has been completed, along with space to enter any errors or corrections that need to be made before publication (if there is insufficient space on the form, you can also send an email curriculum@humboldt.edu). Once you complete the form, you will receive a copy for your records.
