Career Expo & Volunteer Fair: Thursday, February 13, 11 am-3 pm, West Gym
Please get the word out to our students about our largest career fair of the year happening February 13, 2025. The career fair is open to all majors and class levels and assists students seeking summer jobs, volunteer opportunities, internships, and post-graduation employment. A list of registered employers can be found on the campus job board Handshake. Employer registration deadline is Jan 31. Additional perks of attending the career fair include a free professional headshot photo booth and lunch.
Beginning on Monday, February 3, 2025, the Career Development Center will host a week-long series of resume and networking workshops. Please see the attached flyers for additional information.
Any effort by faculty to encourage student participation in the Career Expo & Volunteer Fair is appreciated including walking students over to the fair during their regularly scheduled class, requiring students to attend as part of the course, and/or offering extra credit incentives for preparing resumes and participating in the fair. A shout-out to the School of Engineering faculty for utilizing these strategies to drive attendance at their Engineering Career Fair last semester.
Join us for the Spring 2025 Book Circle
Are you interested in ethically integrating Indigenous knowledge into your curriculum, but aren’t sure where to start? The Native American Studies Department, Center for Teaching and Learning, Office of Sustainability, and Office of the Provost have partnered to host a faculty book circle focused on intersections of Indigenous Knowledge and environmentalism. In this book circle, we engage with texts by Indigenous scholars and discuss how to incorporate Indigenous knowledge and praxis into our work in ethical and sustainable ways. This semester’s Book Circle will run from February 19 to March 26, 2025, and weekly meetings will be held on Wednesdays from 11 am - 12:30 pm on Zoom.
This spring, we will read The Serviceberry: Abundance and Reciprocity in the Natural World by Dr. Robin Wall Kimmerer. Book circle will be facilitated by Dr. Kaitlin Reed, Cal Poly Humboldt’s TEK Faculty Fellow. Copies of the book will be provided to all participants.
This book circle is an opportunity for faculty at Cal Poly Humboldt to remain at the cutting edge of sustainability, social justice, and community environmental research. All disciplines are invited to creatively engage with this challenge. Faculty engagement with this book circle will help Cal Poly Humboldt maintain its leadership within the CSU system as a campus that continues to bridge the social sciences and STEM. If you are interested in participating, please register for the book circle here by February 10, 2025.
