February 26, 2024

Hello everyone and happy Monday. I hope you had a terrific weekend and enjoyed the sunshine! The mid-semester grind is very much on right now and I appreciate each of you as you work to make our student experience a positive and meaningful one.

Improve Sustainability Course Designation

As sustainability remains at the core of our values at Cal Poly Humboldt, you are invited to join a conversation and offer feedback about sustainability course designation. Small group activities will be facilitated over lunchtime to offer feedback on proposed improvements to the process that our campus uses to determine whether courses are designated as sustainability-focused or related. This will take place on February 27 and February 29 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm in Harry Griffith Hall (HGH) 117. The meeting is hosted twice to give faculty options for attendance. Light refreshments will be served. For more information contact Jennifer Ortega, Sustainability Fellow, at jmm26@humboldt.edu

Open Education Week Lunches for Faculty, March 4-9, 2024

Support sustainable learning and come to an OER/AL$ Faculty Workshop - Bagels, Books, and more. Monday, March 4, 2024, at Noon and Thursday, March 7, 2024, at Noon - Both in LIB 308.

Come to lunch and explore Affordable Learning Solutions (AL$) and search for Open Educational Resources (OER). This is a great opportunity to start the process of adopting affordable or free alternatives for course materials in your classes to support student success. At this lunchtime event (bagels provided), you can get started on searching for OER and engage with Librarians who can provide consultation on affordable alternatives. If you sign up for a consultation, librarians will provide a detailed workup that you can share with students within your syllabi, getting them closer to goals of more sustainable and affordable learning. Lower textbook costs for your students!
