Hello and happy Monday. I hope everyone had a nice weekend. I know President’s Week can be difficult to navigate for parents with the associated school breaks so here’s hoping things go smoothly. It was also wonderful to see so many great folx at the Author’s Celebration this past Friday in the Library. Congratulations again to all of our authors and the wonderful people at the library that made this happen!
Monitoring Federal Executive Orders and Agency Guidance
The Office of Research & Sponsored Programs Foundation is actively monitoring the impact of federal Executive Orders, Office of Management and Budget (OMB) memos, and related agency guidance—such as those issued by the NIH—as well as any relevant court decisions. We are closely following updates through the CSU Legislative Affairs network and the Research Administration Committee and will take action as appropriate. At this time, we encourage principal investigators (PIs) with active funding or pending proposals to follow the guidance below:
For Investigators with Active Federal Awards:
If you receive a request from your sponsor regarding your active project, please notify your Post-Award Grant Analyst if they are not already included.
Ensure that all required reports are submitted on time to avoid any compliance issues.
For Investigators with Pending or Forthcoming Proposals to Federal Sponsors:
If you receive a request from a sponsor regarding a pending proposal, please notify your Pre-Award Specialist if they are not already included.
Be aware that federal agencies may experience delays in proposal review due to evolving guidance.
These ongoing developments may raise questions or concerns. Please do not hesitate to reach out to the Office of Research & Sponsored Programs Foundation for assistance. Thank you for your patience, understanding, and continued commitment to supporting your students and programs at Cal Poly Humboldt.
Decolonizing Renewable Energy Development talk this Wednesday, February 19, 2025
The Schatz Center is thrilled to host High Country News Editor-in-Chief, Jennifer Sahn, and Indigenous Environmental Reporter, B. “Toastie” Oaster to present a campus-wide talk titled "Decolonizing Renewable Energy Development" on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at 5:30 pm at the Native American Forum.
This talk will touch on ways that Tribal communities are pushing back against renewable energy projects that threaten ecological and cultural resources, what alternative approaches to renewable energy development might look like, and how one Indigenous affairs reporter has brought these issues to light and made an impact through their work. The talk promises to offer interesting and timely insights into a subject of particular interest here in Humboldt County. To learn about other webinars from the Schatz Center or to watch recordings of recent presentations, visit their events website. Please feel free to circulate this announcement or the attached flier. More information and materials about this event can be found on the Schatz Center Blog, LinkedIn, and on Instagram.
