Early Assessment Program's New Outreach Opportunity to Ignite Local High School Interest in College!
The Early Assessment Program invites faculty to participate in a new outreach opportunity with local high schools. The Early Assessment Program goals are to empower junior high school students to assess their readiness for college-level coursework while also fostering a keen interest in the California State University system.
Key Points of the Pilot Outreach Program:
- Exclusive to high schools in Humboldt County for Spring 2024.
- Faculty involvement entails guiding current Humboldt students or clubs in creating and delivering engaging demonstrations representing your department or major.
- Demonstrations should be both captivating and tailored for a high school audience, sparking interest and curiosity.
- Demonstrations may be a school assembly or smaller classroom visit depending on school availability.
- Funding is available for transportation, materials for demonstrations, and fun prizes for high school participants.
- Following the engaging visit from Humboldt faculty and students, high school participants will engage in a deep dive of their college readiness with the Early Assessment Coordinator.
To learn more about the program or express interest please complete this interest form or reach out directly to Melissa Donner, Early Assessment Coordinator at mad151@humboldt.edu.
Have a great week.
