Spring Preview was Awesome!

Thanks to everyone that worked to make Spring Preview on Saturday, April 22, 2023, a success. It was incredible to see the energy (and crowds) from our prospective students and their families. Special shout out to the enrollment management team as well as our faculty and academic deans that participated in the event.

Well Done

Great job to Enoch Hale (Director of the Center of Teaching and Learning) and Kim White (Interim Associate Vice President of Faculty Affairs)  whose offices partnered to offer a new faculty academy this year to support the success of our first-year faculty. This bi-weekly, year-long program addresses all areas of faculty’s tenure portfolio, builds community, and critically examines the interplay of work, life, and Humboldt County. Many participants voiced it was one of the highlights of their first year at Humboldt.

Call for Applications: Faculty Advising Fellows Program for 2023-2024

The Provost’s Office announces a call for applications for the Faculty Advising Fellows Program for 2023-2024. This program is designed to increase faculty participation in a variety of advising initiatives and advising activities. Each year tenured and tenure-track academic faculty who are passionate about academic advising as part of the university’s teaching and learning mission may apply for a competitive, one-academic-year fellowship. The selected applicants (goal of one per college) will be granted release (assigned) time.

Applications for 2023-24 fellowships are due by Monday, May 8, 2023. Please see the attached document for details and instructions. For more information regarding this program, please contact the AVP of Academic Programs, Carmen Bustos-Works.

Demonstrations of Advising and Student Engagement Software: An invitation to participate and give feedback

Please join us for demonstrations of the Advising and Student Engagement Software under consideration for use at Cal Poly Humboldt. A committee of staff and faculty has narrowed the pool to these three finalists, and now seeks feedback from faculty, staff, and peer mentors. Demonstrations will be provided through Zoom, and recordings will be made available for those who cannot attend. Selected software will be used by advisors and faculty to improve student success.   These demonstrations are being hosted by the ITS Project Office and registration is required.
