Sasheen Raymond

Director ITEPP & ELITE Scholars

Sasheen Shailee Colegrove Raymond, who is of Hoopa and Yurok descent and an enrolled member of the Hoopa Valley Tribe, the current ITEPP Director. Sasheen is currently a Ph.D. candidate at Pepperdine Graduate School of Psychology and Education. Before transferring to ITEPP, she worked in the office of Admissions, where she developed a strategic plan for Native student outreach. Prior to that, she worked in the Department of Social Work as a graduate coordinator.

Her scholarly research focuses on leadership development, mentorship, and Indigenous epistemologies in higher education. She hopes to assist in shifting oppressive educational systems to provide equitable and valuable experiences for Native students. Her emphasis will be on meaningful assessment and research highlighting the resilience and strengths of Native people honoring traditional knowledge.

Sasheen is excited about her new role and hopes that students, alumni, and community members stop by to visit and have a cup of coffee or tea. She will work to maintain and strengthen the legacy of the many leaders that have established ITEPP as a model program for Native students.
